This is a holiday track written and recorded for Candice Cain's "New Dogs Old Tricks" series on Amazon Video. When she asked me to write a holiday song I wanted to capture the mystery and awe of this time of year plus the special feeling of sharing your traditions with someone new for the first time.
For me this is a seasonal song and maybe if pressed, a solstice/yule song. I made a point of not tying it to a specific religious holiday though, because I think everyone can relate to the feeling of winter magic whether that is spiritual or just a special feeling.
